What separates it from most small fishing towns is that it has 1,000 seasonal workers fly in every year to work at the Trident Seafood fish-processing plant. This fish processing plant is the largest in the entire United States. Because of this, the government thought it would be a good idea to build a $75.5 million airport to transport these workers in and out of the city.
